What to Wear to Your Photo Session.
So you booked your session and you're super excited! But wait, what are you going to wear?! Well, before you go running up your card on Amazon and every other store like I do, take a deep breath. I'm here to help, so don't worry. Here are 5 tips to help you for your next session!
Dress Comfortable.
You want to look and feel like yourself. Why is this so important? Think about it this way would you be more comfortable in a nice t-shirt and pants or a new clingy dress? Now I'm not saying wear sweats ( unless that's your thing ), but what I am saying is you can still look nice and, most importantly, feel nice too. Maybe you just got this cute blouse, why not take that blouse and wear it with a pleated skirt or even nice jeans and some heels. If you're a guy, maybe you got a nice sports jacket you want to show off. Throw it on with a nice shirt, jeans and dress shoes, or even clean sneakers. I'm a sucker for all-white sneakers. When you dress comfortable, you feel comfortable, and when you feel comfortable, you'll look comfortable, and that genuine smile will shine through.
2. Coordinate.
Please don't get me wrong. Matching can be everything but coordinating can be better. Try color coordinating! Pick one color and go from there. Suppose you can't decide which color. Use complementary colors that you know will look good together like grey and pink, burgundy and green, blue and orange, and so many more. Try not to wear patterns or logo's this can be very distracting and take away from the true beauty of you and your photos. If you want to wear prints or logos, then that's cool. But, when choosing patterns, avoid bold patterns. Subtle patterns work best.
3. Dress up.
Dress up according to the season or location. Knowing your location can be very helpful. If you know you're going for a city location, maybe we wear something that pops. If we're going for a more natural vibe, solids are the way to go. That way, you can stand out. When deciding what to wear, think about this? How do I want to feel when I look back on my pictures? Do I want to be happy knowing I wore that blouse, blazer, heels, pants, jeans, and so on? You want to look back on those photos and say, Man, I LOOK GOOD 🥵!! Don't forget to throw in different textures. Not everything has to be cotton. Add in some velvet, wool, or even silk.
4. Accessorize!
Accessories give you and your photos that extra pop. Hat's, watches, sunglasses, necklaces, rings…It works for all ages and looks great on everybody. Do you know what else can be accessories? Pet's, champagne, umbrellas, instruments, etc. Accessories bring in your personality. It's what makes you stand out from the rest. But, avoid large distracting pieces that can take away from YOU. Remember, I'm photographing you, not your accessories.
5. Bring multiple outfits.
If you're still stumped and still don't know what to wear bring multiple outfits. My one-hour session lets you have as many outfit changes as time allows. So if you want to show off that serious side, then change to show that fun side. I only have one thing to say. DO IT!! Bring those outfits and watch that personality sprout.
So, what should you wear to your photo session?
Wear something comfortable but that you'll feel confident in.
Try to coordinate your colors.
Dress up! Pull out that go-to outfit, you know, the one I'm talking about. The one where you gotta walk past the mirror twice.
Add accessories! Accessories bring the whole outfit together. 💍
Last but not least, bring an extra outfit. Cause who said you couldn't?
Alright, you're all set. I can't wait to see which outfit you picked out 😍!!!!
